Here's what you should look out for in the video:
Ample Security Measures
After my identification has been verified, with electronic key card and a scan of my hand, the second set of steel doors to the data center door unlocks.
Waterless Fire
Prevention
The first panel you see is the floor plan with
lights where each of the smoke detectors are.
Our fire suppression systems works not
using water but, by discharging canisters
of CO2 gas into the room which pushes the concentration of oxygen in the
room below the point that can sustain a fire.
This way in the unlikely event of a fire
the equipment will not be damaged.
Gigantic Air
Conditioners
Next you will see a large gray box on the left, this is one of the
20-Ton air conditioner units, you will see a couple more of these
throughout the video. To the left of that are two pipes which go to the air conditioners roof top condenser.
Raised Flooring
What I am walking on is actually called
"Raised Flooring".
This is special anti-static tile and is one foot off
the ground. It houses the air conditioning ducts and the electrical wiring.
Specially Made Server
Cabinets
The locker looking things are the individually cooled server
cabinets. We'll open one up and show it to you later in the video.
Redundant Fiber Optic
Lines
All the plastic yellow tubing you are seeing and the beige cabinet with the yellow cables on the
side are for the fiber optic lines.
We have
several fully redundant lines coming in, including 6 fully redundant gigabyte lines
(each line can transfer 1GB of data each
second) from separate providers to ensure you're always connected and that your data takes the quickest, most efficient routes for optimal transfer speeds.
Battery Backups + A
Diesel Generator
One thing not shown in the video is our high voltage room. We use giant Liebert battery backups and a CAT diesel
generator. The battery backups kick in instantly in the event of a power outage and the diesel generator takes a couple seconds to start up and then takes over, this can run at full load
for days on its tank and the tank can be refilled while the generator is running.
